The Farthest Shore by Gideon Farrell
Title inspired by the third book in Ursula Le Guin's "Tales of Earthsea" quintet.
Based on a single ecosystem with three layers, a sand layer, grass layer and forest layer. There are two different types of tree. The atmosphere is spectral and the water is made to be like the water in the tropics.
Quite a lot of fog and haze.
