Messaging
Our message system is unique, and fairly unusual. It uses a system of 'message cards' or mcards. when you make a comment, send a private message, or start a forum topic, a new mcard is created.
Anyone who replies to the mcard becomes part of the list of people who are notified whenever the mcard is added to. This facilitates conversations between more than two people.
Newly-changed mcards reappear in your message page, showing the most recent comment. If you become disinterested in a particular mcard, you can remove yourself from it's notification list by clicking the "unwatch" tab.

You can create a text link in this form: use {} brackets containing the URL first, then the text, separated by a vertical line: |

Linking artwork and artists in text
These tricks work in messages AND userpages and journals.
1. Artist name link: [elleeden] (remove those spaces) produces this: elleeden

4. Artwork thumbnail: [art:47] produces this: 
To get the artwork number, just view the artwork and look at the end of the web address in your browser, eg: http://www.artismurder.com/showart.php?id=47
Special emphasis:
You can use <b>this</b> notation for bold, <i>this</i> for italics.
Also, enclose text in {{{triple brackets}}} to center things, and (((triple parentheses))) for superbold titles.
About Privacy
How private are private messages?
They're not private from the two site administrators. Don't write anything you don't want us to see, because we do review message activity.
We keep private messages on file for approximately ten days after they are marked as read by all parties.
If you need to complain about someone's conduct in a private message, you need to tell us within ten days of marking it as read.
